VOCATIONAL SPECIALIST

SUMMARY Family Service League is seeking a full-time Vocational Specialist to work as part of an interdisciplinary team to provide goal directed activities to obtain education or competitive employment for adolescents and adults who are newly experiencing the onset of psychosis and who may also be experiencing other behavioral health disorders.
This position has a hybrid schedule of on site (clinic-based) and field work, as well as in person and telehealth services.
Staff will receive expert training and technical assistance in a structured, empirically supported model of assessment and treatment (OnTrack, NY, through the Center for Practice Innovations at Columbia Psychiatry and New York State Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene).
RESPONSIBILITIES Engage participants and establish a trusting, collaborative relationship to develop goals towards education or employment.
Collaborate with other team members to deliver education and employment support within the context of the model (e.
g.
, engage with participants to do fun activities, practice cognitive or social skills that can then help them get a job, etc.
) Based on the participant's preferences, work closely with family members, or loved ones to educate them on how to support the young person with work/school goals.
Help family or loved ones navigate employment and educational systems, identify resources that can be helpful to them, and/or provide other supports to families as needed to help the young person with their recovery.
Provide job development and job search services directed toward positions that are individualized to the interests and uniqueness of the people we serve.
Collaborate on referrals, resources, and interventions within a multidisciplinary team that includes Master's level clinicians, peer specialists and psychiatric nurse practitioners.
Complete all clinical documentation in accordance with NYS Office of Mental Health in an electronic medical record, including nursing notes, care coordination and treatment plans.
Coordinate and connect to participants' families and community resources, including primary care providers.
Attend routine supervision/team meetings.
Understand and demonstrate a commitment to Performance Quality Insurance (PQI) and accreditation with the Council on Accreditation for Children and Family Services (COA).
Provide additional support/services to the clinic proper, as needed.
Complete trainings and maintain proficiency with de-escalation skills.
QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in related behavioral health field required.
At least 1 year experience in a behavioral health setting required; working with adolescent and/or young adults with serious mental illness preferred.
Experience providing employment or education services preferred.
Excellent interpersonal skills and strong verbal and written communication skills required.
Ability to problem solve, make clear decisions and work as part of a team.
Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Electronic Health Records required.
Valid and clean NYS Driver's License required.
Bilingual Spanish strongly preferred.
Some evening and weekend hours may be required.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
